Linear progression: start here

Beginners should ride linear progression as long as it lasts: add a small amount to the bar each session on the main lifts, working in the 3–5 rep range. It's boring and it's brutally effective because untrained bodies adapt fast. Milk it for months before anything fancier.

Double progression for intermediates

When session-to-session gains stop, switch to double progression: pick a rep range (e.g., 4–6), add reps until you top it out across all sets, then add weight and reset to the bottom. Simple periodization
