Sources Policy

Effective date: 2 October 2026.

We aim to ground every factual claim in a source a reader can check.

What we cite

  • Peer-reviewed research — systematic reviews, meta-analyses and position stands, mostly indexed in PubMed.
  • Authoritative bodies — for example the American College of Sports Medicine, the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and national physical-activity guidelines.

How claims are tied to sources

Each in-depth guide ends with a numbered reference list. Where a claim is contested or uncertain, we say so rather than overstating the evidence — for example, we distinguish a statistically significant finding from a trend, and we note when a result comes from a small or non-volume-equated study.

What we avoid

We avoid citing supplement marketing, unverifiable “expert” opinion, and claims that a topic has been “reviewed by a qualified expert” when it has not. We do not present ourselves as clinicians.

Corrections

If a source does not support the claim it is attached to, that is an error we want to correct. See our corrections policy.
